A savory and balanced marinade perfect for grilled chicken, made with olive oil, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and herbs.

Ingredients

Marinade Ingredients

  • 1 cup olive oil (Adds richness and prevents chicken from drying out.)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (Opt for low-sodium if desired.)
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (Adds brightness and enhances flavor.)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (Introduces sharp tang.)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (Sweetens and gives a glaze.)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (Brings warmth and aroma.)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper (Provides spice.)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (Adjust to taste.)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano (Adds earthy flavor.)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (Offers subtle herbal note.)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, garlic, black pepper, salt, oregano, and thyme in a bowl until well combined.
  • Place chicken in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring it’s well coated.
  • Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to 8 hours for better flavor.

Grilling

  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  • Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the marinade.
  • Let the chicken sit for a few minutes to reach room temperature.
  • Grill the chicken for 6-8 minutes per side or until fully cooked, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Always taste your marinade before using it to adjust flavors. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat at 350°F for tender chicken. This marinade also works well with pork or vegetables.
